Knowing how rates affect your business is important to your bottom line. We want your business to accept payments with confidence - while avoiding unnecessary fines or compliance issues. Below is a breakdown of the most common pricing models, along with the rules you should know before selecting the right fit for your business.
Never add a separate “processing fee” line item on a receipt. This is considered a non-compliant surcharge and could result in fines.
Use approved methods only. Programs like Surcharge, Dual Pricing, or Cash Discounts are allowed, but each has specific rules you must follow.
Stay compliant with state and card-brand rules. Visa, Mastercard, and other networks have strict requirements — and some states prohibit or cap fees.
When in doubt, ask. Our team will help you choose a program and make sure your signage, receipts, and disclosures meet all legal requirements.
